To
celebrate Engineer's Week § Join the fun and learn a thing or two at the annual
Tri-Cities ASME Egg Drop. Designed to promote engineering and science
in the Tri-Cities community, it's also an excellent opportunity to
encourage students to consider math, science, and other technical
fields/disciplines as career options. This event is being organized by the
Holston Section, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers). § Objective: Participants are
asked to protect an egg from a second story drop to keep it from SMASHING
when it hits the ground. Accuracy of the drop, minimizing the weight of
the protective device, and minimizing the number of components in the
protective device are all factors in determining who wins. § All ages, including adults, are
encouraged to participate. § Format/Levels: Compete as an
individual, or compete as a team from your school, family, church, or other
group. § Individual Registration
Cost: Early
Registration is $3 if submitted online
(or mail, postmarked) by March 1, 2013; a free T-shirt will be reserved for
you; additional T-Shirts can be ordered. On or after March
2nd, Late Registration is $6 (we may not be able to guarantee T-shirt
availability for late registrants). Registration opens at 12:00 pm on
the competition day. § Team Registration Cost:
Early Registration is $5 if submitted online
(or mail, postmarked) by March 1, 2013; up to 2 T-shirts will be reserved for
you; additional T-Shirts
can be ordered. On or after March 2nd, Late Registration is $10 (we
may not be able to guarantee T-shirt availability for late
registrants). Registration opens at 12:00 pm on the competition day. § Prizes: Winners receive
awards, certificates, gift certificates, goody bags, and cash prizes. § What YOU need to do now: Read our rules, then register.
